HARUHI ENGLISH TRAILER! LOVED also HATED!?

HAruhi gang

Well a week has past, since the release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya English Trailer on ASOSBrigade.com. , I for one looked up on some blogs and forums to see the reactions from these people,if they had the same thoughts about it like myself. Not surprisingly, Anime fans are again, divided on their opinions, just like the time Haruhi first aired, The Anime community was on war, depending and attacking the series. Well, I was with the depending side in case you’d like to know :) I wasn’t a fan after Episode 1 if you know what i mean. the next Episode finally picked up and the rest is history and now It’s finally licensed and at last arriving on North American shores.

But like any anime that has already made it here, English Dubbed Animes are still trying to buy the Love from the fans , the same appreciation the fans have for the Japanese or Fansubbed Animes. Many had fall for that kind of love hate routine, just to name a couple Azumanga Daioh and Love Hina are Loved anime but Hated for the Dubbed version ( Naruto and Bleach are having the success so far) but thats where my point comes in, “Familiarity” that’s the word I’ve been looking for. If you think about, it applies to each and everyone of them. Love Hina we knew the voices, we even pictured it on our minds, my point is when we watched them on “downloadable” fansub animes, as we read their subtitles we already have the sense of familiarity on the original voices, and their own characteristic grammar that goes along with the character that the fansubbers provides. so If you’re like me as I read them I already convert those voices to English on my head(well not all of it), so hearing them already on English is already made up on my mind. which is kind of weird, i know, but I also know It’s what’s also the reason for loving Naruto and Bleach by some fans who already knew the original voice, you gotta admit the voices of Naruto and Ichigo are good if not great, they captured the characters true identity, thus we as fan a familiarity is open up. Which brings my attention to Haruhi, whats also important is the MAIN character, you notice Naruto and Bleach’s success because the lead character are well justified on voice dubbed.

Now after I watched the released English Trailer for the DVD, I was speechless (It even took me a week to write a blog that’s how speechless I was). I search for blogs and forums about it, ’cause I knew whats brewing , more HATE!!, upon hearing Haruhi , I need to get something off my chest. why even on some blogs i red ” I think I died a little” now thats saying something. Like I said the lead character is everything, which would bring again the word “Familiarity” Haruhi talks and talks on this anime, although Kyon has an equal amount of dialogue, but still Haruhi has more character more depth on her personality so etch on my or our mind is her high-pitch, bossy , forceful but lovable voice, to hear the English Dubbed, I’ll steal those lines “I think I died a little”…but.. overtime maybe Not!! …familiarity remember! I watched it once, died, watched twice, cursing the dubber and production company, watched the third time… hmmmm… you know it ain’t that bad, i guess when i have the DVD and watch it for a whole episode I’d love it. What’s bothering me though is how come Mikuru and the rest seems to have made it on standard level. again good but not great. wait no, on Mikuru on Mikuru Beam scene was perfect it was great! the cuteness was their it never disappeared even dubbed, thats a good sign, Even with all this talk of disappoint. It is still evident I’m still lining up to buy the Special Edition DVD, the package is all WORTH IT, I’m telling you. The trailer doesnt show much of everyone else especially Kyon but on AnimeTV that reviewed this upcoming DVD release, Kyon’s voice was really good. heres a link if you’re interested about the show and the review, which was mostly positive. Its has 2 parts on youtube
